1）B介子物理：CKM角度测量， B+→T+V纯轻子衰变（测量夸克混合矩阵元Vub），包含D 介子与正负质子对的罕见B 介子衰变模式，以及在此基础上的粲味五夸克态的寻找。
2）希格斯粒子的发现及性质测量： 通过对H→T+T¯，H→W+W¯及Hgg 等希格斯衰变信道研究希格斯粒子（2012年发现）的耦合强度、CP性质及是否有超出标准模型的迹象。
3）超对称（SUSY）等新物理模型的寻找：在LHC实验上寻找超对称物理存在的线索，包括暗物质的直接搜寻。这是继希格斯发现之后的重要课题之一。
4）探测器技术：ATLAS强子量能器电子学读出，大数据、低能耗快速电子读出装置的研发及在ATLAS探测器上的应用（ATLAS升级改造工程）。
5）ATLAS运行支持及维护：ATLAS运行检测、数据维护，强子束流及横向逃逸能的刻度工作，新物理信号的触发器研究工作等。
6）基于对撞机物理的理论研究：与粒子理论方面的专家教授紧密合作，结合LHC的物理发现，开展理论方面的指导性研究工作。
