Abstract: Nearly one hundred events of gravitational wave signals have been detected with ground-based gravitational wave detectors targeting the band around ten Hz, and thus open a new window for gravitational wave astronomy and gravitational wave physics. It also yields a large number of important results in astronomy and gravitational theory. The millihertz band targeted by space-borne gravitational wave detectors has more and stronger sources, including compact galactic binaries, massive binary black holes, stellar-mass binary black holes, extreme mass ratio inspirals, and stochastic gravitational wave backgrounds from various sources. However, there are still a large number of theoretical problems to be solved in the analysis of related scientific problems, waveform template generation and data processing methods. This presentation will briefly introduce these problems and discuss the role that the study of gravitational theory can play in the study of related problems, taking the TianQin project as an example.
