Title: New Physics of Spontaneous Symmetry Breaking in the Early Universe

Abstract: A strong first-order electroweak phase transition provides a possible mechanism to generate baryon asymmetry in the early universe, and it may impact on the thermal environment of dark matter formation and evolution. Also, gravitational wave signals from first-order phase transitions and cosmic strings are important targets of gravitational wave experiments such as PTA, LIGO, LISA, Taiji and Tianqin. In this talk, I will share our recent progress in the study of symmetry breaking in the early universe, including physics of Higgs mechanism, dark matter and gravitational waves.

Bio: 边立功,2013年博士毕业于南开大学,此后到中国科学院理论物理研究所从事博士后研究,2016年入职重庆大学,2017至2019年得到韩国研究员计划资助在韩国中央大学任 Research Professor,现为重庆大学副研究员。主要研究方向是粒子物理和粒子宇宙学,包括:希格斯物理、暗物质、正反物质不对称、早期宇宙对称性破缺及其产生的随机引力波背景的研究等。
