Title: Loosely bound states in relativistic nuclear collisions

Speaker: Peter Braun-Munzinger (EMMI)

Abstract: Light nuclei and hyper-nuclei are copiously produced in nuclear collisions at hadron colliders. We will present the experimental situation and discuss how such fragile structures are produced close to the QCD phase boundary, even though their binding energies are orders of magnitude smaller than the average momentum of produced hadrons.

BIO: Prof. Dr. Peter Braun-Munzinger is the Scientific Director of ExtreMe Matter Institute(EMMI). He was appointed as the Helmholtz Professor by GSI Helmholtz Zentrum für Schwerionenforschung between 2011 and 2014, and has been the Honorar-Professor of Heidelberg University since 2014 and the Gui Zhi-Ting Chair Professor of CCNU since 2015. He was the spokesperson of AGS E814 Collaboration. He was elected as the Member of Academia Europaea(2011) and the Fellow of American Physical Society(1994). He received the Werner Heisenberg Medal of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation(2008), and Lise Meitner Prize of the European Physical Society (2014), Stern-Gerlach Medaille der Deutschen Physikalischen Gesellschaft (2019), and Chinese Academy of Sciences PIFI Distinguished Scientist Award (2021).
