报告摘要 : Novel quantum states arise in quantum materials due to strong interactions of spin, charge, orbital, and lattice degrees of freedom. Characteristic dynamics of quantum materials is very often found in the terahertz frequency range. The rapid development of terahertz technology in the past two decades has provided enormous opportunities for the studies of novel quantum dynamical phenomena. I will present a few examples of our recent works in this research field. In particular, I will discuss fractional and composite excitations in one-dimensional quantum magnets, and extremely nonlinear dynamical responses of Dirac semimetals as well as in superconductors.

报告人介绍: Professor Zhe Wang obtained his bachelor degree in Nanjing University, and master and PhD degrees from the University of Augsburg in Germany. Before he is appointed as a full professor in 2020 at the TU Dortmund University, he was a junior group leader at the University of Cologne from 2019 to 2020 and a postdoctoral fellow in the Helmholtz-Center Dresden-Rossendorf from 2017 to 2019. His recent research focuses on terahertz dynamics of quantum materials, particularly in quantum magnets, Dirac matter and superconductors.
