内容摘要:Angular momentum, like energy and momentum, is one of the few exactly conserved physical quantities arising from fundamental spacetime symmetries. Nontrivial interplay between angular momentum and the strong interaction leads to novel phenomena and open questions, with the nucleon spin structure as a well-known example. A fascinating new example comes from relativistic nuclear collisions, which create a new form of hadronic matter carrying a significant amount of angular momentum. Recent experimental measurements have found remarkable consequences of this angular momentum, such as the global spin polarization effect. This talk will discuss theoretical developments on two important elements toward a quantitative understanding of such measurements: the initial conditions for angular momentum across a broad range of collisional beam energy, as well as the viscous hydrodynamics framework under the presence of angular momentum.
