Quantum droplet, as have been successfully realized in ultracold atoms, describes a self-bound many-body state that is stabilized by quantum effect. Its existence and property sensitively depends on the dimension of the system. In this talk, I will discuss the stability of quantum droplet during dimensional crossover. Specifically, we consider a quasi-2D Bose-Bose mixture by applying a uniform confinement with tunable length. The confinement-induced boundary effect is found to destabilize the droplet towards the formation of a soliton-like bound state, and leads to soliton re-entrance at large particle numbers. Taking K39 bosons for example, we show how the droplet-soliton transition and coexistence can be conveniently tuned by the confinement length and boson number. Such intriguing competition between droplet and soliton can be readily probed in quasi-low-dimensional cold atoms.

报告人介绍:崔晓玲,中国科学院物理研究所研究员。2005年山东大学本科毕业,2010年中科院物理所获博士学位。2010-2013年清华大学高等研究院副研究员。2011-2012年美国俄亥俄州立大学研究助理,2013年入职中科院物理所。在冷原子理论相关方向发表论文50余篇,引用1300余次,H因子21。获基金委优秀青年基金(2016),国家重点研发计划青年项目负责人(2018)。
